One of the biggest nights in fashion, the Met Gala, just took place this past Monday night in New York City. This year the infamous event was hosted by billionaire Jeff Bezos, which was very controversial and made a lot of people unhappy. He reportedly donated 10 million dollars to the gala and it seemed as if he was buying his way in to host the event. Besides the drama about Jeff Bezos, let’s look at all the buzz from the celebrities and what they wore to this year’s Met Gala.
This year’s theme was “Costume Art” with the dress code being “Fashion is Art”. Two of the biggest names of the night were Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams who star in the newest hit show “Heated Rivalry”. Connor Storrie stepped out wearing a Yves Saint Laurent suit with a polka-dot halter top with brooches by Tiffany & Co. Hudson Willliams dazzled not only with his outfit, but also with his eye makeup. His makeup was inspired by the movie “Black Swan” and he “wanted to reference cinema”. His outfit was a bold black and blue Balenciaga suit with a long black train that followed behind him. Reportedly from a few different sources, the two stars hung out the whole night and enjoyed their first Met Gala together.
Musicians also made a huge statement this year at the Met Gala. Sabrina Carpenter wore a custom Dior dress made almost entirely of film strips from the 1954 classic movie “Sabrina” that starred Audrey Hepburn. Beyonce returned to the Met Gala for the first time in 10 years as co-chair of the event. Her daughter Blue Ivy accompanied her as well. Beyonce wore a custom sparkling skeleton inspired look with a feather train by Olivier Rousteing. Blue Ivy made her Met Gala debut wearing a white Balenciaga dress with a matching jacket. She said “it’s great” to be attending her first Met Gala with her mom and dad. Madonna wore a black Yves Saint Laurent suit with a large sheer gray scarf that required 7 helpers to carry it. The look was inspired by Lenora Carrington’s painting “The Temptation of St. Anthony.” Bad Bunny captured the audience with his look this year, as he dressed up as his 85 year old self in an all black suit from Zara.
From the 2026 Winter Olympic stage to her Met Gala debut, gold medalist Alysa Liu stepped out on the carpet. She wore a red Louis Vuitton dress that looked like a bouquet of roses at the bottom. Emma Chamberlain was one of the first to make her appearance on the red carpet this year. Chamberlain is one of the correspondents who interviews the different celebs as they walk down the red carpet and she has had many different clips that have gone viral this year. She wore a custom Mugler by Miguel Castro dress that was hand painted by Anna Deller-Yee. Closing out the carpet for the night was Fenty Beauty owner and pop star Rihanna and her partner ASAP Rocky. Rihanna stepped out wearing a dramatic sculptural Maison Margiela gown and said she “felt like stepping out of an oyster.” Her man ASAP Rocky wore a custom pink Chanel suit. The couple always impress when they make their grand entrance at the Met Gala, and for the second year in a row they were fashionably late and the last celebrities to walk the red carpet.
There were many celebrities in many different fashion choices that attended the Met Gala at The Metropolitan Museum of Art on 5th Avenue in New York City. Each year the audiences love looking out for the best look and love rating them. Some fans say they feel like Miranda Priestly from the movie “The Devil Wears Prada” when judging the celebrities looks. The celebrities make it very exciting and never fail to surprise and impress every year at the Met Gala.
