On March 6, after taking an almost four year long hibernation from the spotlight, Harry Styles returned better than ever. He announced his fourth studio album, Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally on January 15.
Before Styles officially announced his fourth album, HSHQ (the official Harry Styles fanpage, known as Harry Styles Headquarters) was dropping various hints of a new album. Fans were receiving texts from HSHQ with hints and clues of the long anticipated album. Styles announced HS4 by posting the cover photo of Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally on social media on 15 January.
In anticipation of the album release, Styles appeared on Britney Broski’s Youtube channel in her “Royal Court,” where he looked absolutely adorable dressed in elf ears and a crown as he made drawings and even let Britney Broski listen to one of the tracks from the album. He then appeared in an interview with Zayn Lowe, where he briefly touched on how he’s been dealing with the loss of former One Direction bandmate, Liam Payne, and Harry expressed the pressure he feels from the public to show his grief publicly.
The album starts with the hit single “Aperture,” a song that has everybody jumping up and down holding hands while singing “we belong together.” Then, “American Girls” gives Americans a reason to be patriotic. “Ready, Steady, Go!” is the third track on the album, with the repeated lyric “ready, steady, go.” “Taste Back” is a song that has everybody making a The Summer I Turned Pretty edit in their heads, so does “Coming Up Roses.” “Carla’s Song,” Styles revealed, was dedicated to the daughter of his co-writer Kid Harpoon.
The album has many critics scrutinizing this new musical path that Styles is headed down. They shout critiques at him, saying that they wish he’d go back to his roots and make music more similar to his debut album. Some “fan are even saying that they regret buying tour tickets without having listened to the album.
Speaking of his “Forever, Forever” tour, starting this May, the ticket war for fans was one that not even the “Eras Tour” ticket war can compete with. The tour has had some of the highest demand that Ticketmaster has seen, especially since he’s only touring in one city out of all of the US. His tour consists of six stops; New York City, Mexico City, Sao Paulo, Wembley, and Amsterdam, and Australia.
“Harry Styles. One Night In Manchester” is a one night concert where Styles performed the entire album start to finish, as well as “From the Dining Table” from his debut album, the infamous song “Watermelon Sugar,” “Golden”, and his biggest hit from his last album, Harry’s House, “As It Was”.
Following the announcement of Harry’s fourth studio album, known to fans as Kissco, he’s done interview after interview, and performance after performance. Styles hosted Saturday Night Live the Saturday following his album release, where he acted in multiple skits, mostly ones beating the “unemployed” allegations that he’d faced during his long time off. This included him working as a fast food employee, Best Buy employee, a “Styles For Him” spokesman, and even more. He performed two songs from the album and already created some traditions that his concerts are sure to continue.
No matter what anyone thinks of the album, I think we can all agree that we once weren’t sure if Styles was coming back. But now that he’s back and better than ever, we can all vibe to “Pop” and look forward to whatever Styles has up his sleeve.
