On January 4, 2026, the Baltimore Ravens lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers due to a season-ending mistake. While any loss is hard, this one was especially tough due to the stakes the game held. The Ravens had the chance to make it to the playoffs, but the loss of this game caused their season to come to an end.
What made this loss even harder for the team was the fact that the game was completely dependent on one team member and one kick. With 2 seconds left on the clock and the Steelers winning 28-26, Tyler Loop had the chance to attempt a 44-yard field goal in order to win the game. With everyone on the edge of their seats, loop made his kick, which ended up being kicked too far right. Loop’s miss kept the team from winning the game and from moving forward to the playoffs.
In a post-game interview, Tyler Loop said, “I want to do better, and unfortunately the nature of the job is, you know, you have makes and those are awesome, and unfortunately you have misses, and for that to happen tonight sucks.”
When watching the Ravens right after the kick, it is clear that Loop is heartbroken for his team. Loop’s teammate, Jordan Stout, pulled him into a supportive hug immediately after the loss, and even Steelers kicker Chris Boswell went to support and encourage Loop, showing that providing support meant more than the game and its end result.
Loop remains excited to continue with the Ravens next year and hopes to make his team proud in the future.
