At the height of the holiday season, many students are coming to the realization that they’re struggling to experience the typical excitement and spirit of years’ past. Rather than enjoying the season, students are more concerned about schoolwork, grades, and other responsibilities.
“I think Christmas this year hasn’t been as enjoyable due to academic stress. With final projects and exams, I haven’t been able to really go Christmas shopping or do anything fun with my friends and family, and for me, that’s what makes Christmas so fun, ” Ashley English (11) said.
Consequently, students are working to find ways to not let the stress of school take away from their holiday experience.
“I’m planning on clearing my schedule for a couple of days and just planning a bunch of activities for the week before Christmas so I can still feel a little bit of the Christmas spirit,” English said.
While school will never not be a prevalent source of stress, students are hopeful that there is still time to reclaim the holiday season and enjoy it fully.
