The week of December 8 marked the final week for this dual credit semester. This means that those involved in a dual credit class get more time off than regular classes, which for many students is an advantage that dual credit provides.
Dual credit gives more than just a longer winter break; It gives students opportunities to finish high school with college credits, meaning they get to take fewer beginner classes in college.
Also, students have felt that dual credit helps prepare them for college because of the structure and schedule of the classes.
“My favorite part about dual credit is feeling involved in a college class and getting the experience early to prepare myself for college,” said Emma Lucatero (11).
“The class also gives you a glimpse into what life will be like on your own and working with college level classes and college level professors,” Said Camden Miller (11).
Though it seemed intimidating at first, many students actually loved the class they took this semester and would recommend it to anyone considering dual credit next year for many reasons.
“I really enjoyed my first semester because of the friends I made,” said Lucatero.
Similarly, Miller enjoyed what dual credit offered her as well.
“I like that I have the freedom to do my work when I please or to have more freedom with my work. I also like not having class every day so I get to have time to study and rest,” said Miller.
As this semester comes to an end, students should take the time to reflect on how their classes have helped them be successful and which classes are worth taking next year.
