The Wylie High varsity girls’ basketball team opened district play with a statement on their home court on Dec. 2 2025, dominating the Sachse Mustangs, with a 76-39 victory. From beginning to end, Lady Pirates controlled the pace of the game, while showcasing the work they have put in from the offseason. The win not only sets strong tones for the season but also highlights the growing chemistry between the players and the new coach.
“We came out in the game very strong in the beginning and were able to cause a lot of turnover in our press, which started our run that continued throughout the game,” said varsity player Alyson Jeske (11).
By building their momentum early, the Lady Pirates were able to keep the pressure on Sasche throughout all four quarters, throughout every fastbreak, inbound, and play, all while consistently putting points on the scoreboard.
“We got a big win, so we are gonna go into our future games with confidence and ready to dominate,” said varsity player Ronelyse Hartfield (11).
After their big win, the team is focused on carrying this momentum into their upcoming matchups. As the competition gets tougher, Wylie aims to keep showcasing the same intensity and teamwork to dominate in their district.
