As November comes to an end, Thanksgiving traditions return to households across the country. However, many people find that the excitement of the long awaited, delicious meal sometimes overshadows the true spirit and meaning behind the holiday.
Students this year are counting their blessings and looking forward to spending time with their families.
“My plan is to spend time with my family and eat Thanksgiving, especially turkey,” said Jazmin Quinonez (11).
There’s a general consensus that Thanksgiving is arguably the holiday that has the best food, but there’s also certain foods that people argue should be forbidden from the table.
“My favorite Thanksgiving food is turkey, obviously, and cranberry sauce should be banned,” said Madison McMinimy (11).
Some are passionate about what foods should and shouldn’t dress the table on that special Thursday.
“Casserole, any type of casserole, needs to be away from the table, like I can’t see it,” said Jazmin Quinonez (11).
Arguments about the dishes on the table aside, the true meaning behind the holiday acts as a moment to pause and appreciate the good things in life.
“(I’m thankful for) my family and everything I have,” said Madison McMinimy (11).
