The Day of Happiness on March 28, 2025 means a lot to Wylie High School students because it allows students to learn how to spread happiness and wear yellow to represent their joy. The day of happiness can mean something different to each student.
“The day of happiness means to celebrate the little things that bring you joy in life,” Sophia Soza (12) said.
For instance, the people they see everyday brings joy to them everyday.
“I think my family and my friends are the biggest things that make me happy, mainly because they’re always supporting me,” Sarah Rigby (12) said. “I feel like I can always laugh with them, or they make me smile. So when they’re happy, it makes me happy, too.”
Besides family, teachers are one of the biggest supporters to Wylie High students.
“They’re [the faculty] supporting us in our things, like if they come to my tennis matches, or if they just ask me, like how I’m doing,” Rigby said. “I feel like it is a big thing.”
Besides receiving happiness, there are multiple ways to spread happiness and kindness to others within the community.
“People can spread kindness by just donating to homeless people and doing charities,” Soza said.

Within Wylie High School, the school system encourages happiness throughout the school year.
“I feel like one way they [the faculty] do good is Wylie Way Day,” Rigby said. “But I feel like those need to be kind of more often. I think just going back to the simple things, like just asking, ‘Why are you happy today?’ or ‘What brings you happiness?’”
However, there are easier ways Wylie High School students spread happiness.
“I’m in tennis and I’m actually the team captain. So one of the ways that I uphold responsibilities is just including other teammates, especially because on our varsity team, we have a lot of freshmen,” Rigby said. “So we try to be more inclusive of them.”
While it may seem like there are no problems at Wylie High School, bullying can still exist whether in person or online.
“We can stop bullying by explaining how it doesn’t help anybody, and we need to bring awareness to the fact that bullies are going through stuff most times, and address that,” Soza said.
At the end of the day, receiving and spreading happiness is important to Wylie High School students. They spread happiness through the little things such as just including people and giving compliments. Besides Wylie High School students, the faculty is important to the school. The faculty’s support plays a vital role in Wylie High students’ lives.
