At the beginning of the 2025-2026 school year, Wylie High School plans on welcoming a new counselor to the administrative staff. Due to a rapid growth in the school’s population, students can expect to meet Mrs. Natalie Rufus on campus this fall.
Along with being a Wylie High alum herself, Mrs. Rufus previously taught Spanish at Burnett Junior High School. In 2019, she was promoted to the position of guidance counselor at Burnett.
According to statements made in last week’s edition of the school newsletter by Principal Brian Alexander, Mrs. Rufus is ecstatic to be academically guiding students at the Wylie High campus.
Now, the sheer amount of changes in administration might be overwhelming for students at this time. In addition to the departure of assistant principal Mr. Fields and the promotion of Coach Wallace to Dean of Students, the thought of a new guidance counselor could possibly be daunting.
However, Mrs. Rufus is seemingly eager to make a positive impact at the Wylie High campus, therefore students should absolutely do their best to make her feel welcome this fall.
