On Oct 3, Wylie High hosted their annual Future Pirate Night. Future Pirate Night is an event where Wylie High’s feeder elementary and junior high schools get the opportunity to experience a high school football game from the perspective of their respective extracurriculars.
Firstly, future Pirate football players commenced the home game by being given a short minute of glory and running across the field. Alongside them were aspiring cheerleaders, who attended a mini clinic by the Wylie cheer team and were taught stunts, cheers, and chants.
Similarly, future drill team dancers were also taught routines by the Pirate Pacesetters. Finally, band and choir students were given the opportunity to perform the National Anthem before the game.
As for the actual game itself, the Wylie Varsity Football ended their three game winning streak with a 24 to 38 loss against Naaman Forest. However, the Pirates are determined to redeem their winning streak in their game against Rowlett on October 10.
The game will be held at 7pm at HBJ Stadium. For those not eager to make the commute, everyone is encouraged to pack the stands at the next home game on October 17 against Garland High School.
