As graduation rapidly approaches, seniors everywhere are filled with the classic cocktail of conflicting feelings–dread, joy, excitement, and straight up fear all rolled into one. Some seniors have more solid plans for life after graduation, and others are diving headfirst into the great unknown. But whichever category they fall into, all seniors seem to feel similarly conflicted about their upcoming freedom.
“I’m a little confused and nervous, but for the most part I’m ready to graduate and move on,” Emily Reese (12) said.
That is a sentiment that seems to float through the halls, there’s a desire to move onto the next chapter. But even those who are emotionally ready to graduate still have some work left to do.
“I’m frazzled trying to get everything in order, but ready to be free,” Hannah Wyeth (12) said.
Regardless of the student’s desire to finish their high school careers, they do have some reticence about their future. While four years of high school have helped them get ready, nothing can truly prepare them for adulthood.
“I’m absolutely not ready for the future, but I’m excited to see what’s in store,” Wyeth said.
So seniors press forward, finishing up their schoolwork and making it through the final weeks, nervous and excited as they press on with a positive outlook toward the future.
