The school dress code has always been a topic of debate, however recently, student opinions on the matter have grown louder. While some believe this dress code policy ensures a focused learning environment, others argue that it unfairly restricts self expression of students and just genuinely dislike the idea of having one.
“We should be allowed to wear what makes us comfortable without worrying about getting in trouble for it,” Adam Fivash (11) said.
On the other hand, some students appreciate the guidelines, believing they help maintain a good balance of professionalism. Some claim that there’s an inconsistency in enforcement and how some face consequences and some don’t.
“I’ve seen people wear the same thing and only some of them get called out,” Ethan Ong (11) said.
School administrators defend the policy stating that it is in place to create a respectful environment. However, they acknowledge student concerns and are open for conversation on this topic.
As conversations continue, many students hope for a dress code that balances both the school’s expectations and personal freedom. Whether those changes will be made is still yet to be seen, but one thing is clear: the debate isn’t over yet.
