2024 has been filled with countless trends that have shaped the year .From music to social media and movies, this year brought something for everyone. Overall though, social media was a driving force behind many of this year’s biggest trends.
“TikTok has influenced me so much this year, especially with the mukbangs I get on my For You page,” Mia Avino (12) said. “Canes, Swig but with their drinks, Crumbl, and that viral Dubai chocolate that I still really want to try.”
Music was also a big center stage in 2024, with many artists making a big impact on so many people and the popularity of it.
“Something I really loved this year about music that came out was like Sabrina Carpenter, Taylor Swift—literally one of my favorites—and Gracie Abrams’ new album,” Ariana Villanueva (9) said.
“One of my favorite things about this year was Bruno Mars’s song with Lady Gaga, Die with a Smile,” Zion Zere (12) said.
A trend was also bringing past artists back and making their music popular again.
“I loved this year’s summer. It was something different because of the music, and everyone had the ‘Lady Killers’ song and ‘Tumblr Girls’ song. I hope that feeling comes back around next year,” Gabriella Guevara (12) said.”It gives off nostalgia like 2016 but in 2024 that is what it feels and sounded like.”
Movies also made a huge impact this year. “The two new movies this year, Gladiator and Wicked, gave me last year’s Barbie and Oppenheimer vibes,” Joanna Pakebusch (12) said. “They are both great movies.”
Gaming platforms also became a big part of the year’s trends.
“Roblox is supposed to be meant for kids and stuff, but it’s funny to see videos of people playing it and posting relatable things because we all do it, and it’s all over social media,” Ariana Villanueva (9) said.
Events and concerts made their mark in 2024, with the Taylor Swift Eras Tour continuing to dominate headlines.
“The Eras Tour has been going on for a while now, and it just wrapped up,” Joanna Pakebusch (12) said. “There’s also a lot of talk about Sabrina Carpenter, but all this year was great. It’s also funny the amount of the ‘Wait, I, they don’t love you like I love you’ sound that’s been stuck in my head since October.”
As 2024 comes to a close, the year has been filled with unforgettable moments across music, movies, social media, and so much more.
