At times, students may overlook the preparations required by club presidents and officers before the next meeting. Their responsibilities can range from creating a presentation and discussing the meeting’s agenda to coordinating the resources needed for a major upcoming project involving active members.
“Our main purpose is to, like, help bring the community in,” President of the Hispanic Student Organization Alexa Rodriguez (11) said.
Presidents have lots on their plates, from planning to prepping. Rodriguez emphasized the importance of fostering connections among students and promoting cultural awareness. However, she also acknowledged the challenges that come with her role, noting that planning events and initiatives requires significant dedication and time management. Rodriguez has encountered various obstacles along the way, but her commitment to enhancing the student experience remains strong.
“They (the officers) certainly help. Like Fatima really helps with getting all the candy and like, getting everything organized and stuff, and especially because, sometimes I don’t have as many off periods. So she really helps a lot. And Olivia, she’s new, but she’s really helping spread the word through our Instagram and stuff.,” Rodriguez (11) said. “I’m very open to getting new officers and probably one once I’m in my senior year”.
When Rodriguez was asked about the impact of having officers assist her in managing the organization, she emphasized the significant benefits of their support. She explained that having additional hands and ears not only streamlines the various tasks required to maintain an active and organized environment but also allows her to save valuable time and reduce the overall effort needed. This collaboration enables her to focus on more strategic aspects of the organization, ultimately enhancing productivity and effectiveness.
“There’s definitely a lot of organization and a lot of hard work that goes into it. But if you’re really passionate I think you should do it,” Rodrigues (11) said.
