MSO has an annual cultural event for Wylie High School students and the community. It consists of teachers, students, and anyone else wanting to volunteer.
“It’s great how last year we had a great turn out and hopefully this year can be even better than last year,” Sheila Romero, Spanish teacher and sponsor, said.
The organization had a meeting for volunteers and for anyone that wanted to get involved in the cultural festival coming up on November 16th.
“I have been doing it for the past 2 years and I wanted to volunteer and do something that involves my culture.” said Aishi Bhat (11).
It is all about coming together as one and showing all of the parts that make up Wylie High School.
“Last year’s [festival] was great and we had dancers from different cultures representing their part of their culture. This year it is a bit different but still creates something very special,” said Bhat.
Volunteering opportunities span from the booth, set up, clean up, usherer/general and craft assistants which gives lots of space for those who want to volunteer in helping create a great event involving all these different areas.
“Everyone can basically have a different role and have a huge impact on how things go throughout the day.” said Camila Leija (11).
With the event around the corner, volunteers work to bring the OWMC festival to life. Everyone has a role to play.
