When I walk through Wylie High, it is very common to see various energy drinks like Celsius and Alani in students’ hands. With all the school work and other things you have to deal with in high school, losing sleep definitely comes with it. Some people may drink Celsius or Alani for energy to get through the school day, and others may just drink it because it tastes good. This leaves me with a question though; are Celsius and Alani good for you?
Celsius claims their energy drinks boost your metabolism and provide energy. It’s blended with caffeine, green tea extract and it’s also low in sugar. Alani also has similar benefits when compared to Celsius. It has a blend of vitamins, amino acids and caffeine. Both Celsius and Alani are marketed to be a healthier alternative to traditional energy drinks. They both are low in sugar and are a very convenient pick me up when in need of some energy. Even with all of these good benefits, there has to be some bad ones.
Celsius and Alani both contain 200 mgs of caffeine in their energy drinks. Compared to a cup of coffee, which has 95 mgs of caffeine, that is a 210% increase in caffeine. With just that temporary energy boost, drinking them too much can lead to some negative side effects, such as an increased heart rate and insomnia. They also create a false sense of energy, leading people to overlook the importance of proper nutrition, hydration and sleep. If you rely on these energy drinks everyday, it can lead to a poor diet and lack of sleep, and that may also lead to bad mental health.
Even though there are pros and cons, Celsius and Alani can be a good choice for you if you don’t depend on them too much. I wouldn’t suggest having three of them in one day, but maybe enjoying one every once in a while would be a better decision. It is crucial to drink Celsuis and Alani with caution, and maybe even consider healthier energy alternatives, such as water, exercise and plenty of sleep. In conclusion, l can’t tell you what to do with your body, but just try to monitor your caffeine intake.
