Looking around Wylie High School during the passing period, headphones are a common sight to see. Everyone has their own favorite artists and genres of music they are listening to.
With all the different artists in the music world, there is such a huge variety that students at Wylie High can choose from.
“Some of my go to artists are Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, Oliva Rodrigo, Sabrina Carpenter and Gracie Abrams. Those are my top five main artists I listen to the most,” Bella Court (10) said.
Having to come to school everyday definitely can get monotonous, and music can be very motivating. Listening to music can be very relaxing as well.
“I only do it when I’m in certain classes that allow me to, so Robotics is one when I can chill out and write down the codes. So it does help me focus,” Ivan Rubalcava (10) said.
Studying sometimes can get a little boring and can make students get off task. Listening to music while studying can help students to better focus on their work.
“Sometimes if the music is distracting me, I put on my study playlist, which is mostly Cigarettes After Sex, because they keep me focused and they don’t distract me from my work,” Court (10)
said.
With a wide variety of music to choose from, there are many reasons why certain genres appeal to students.
“My favorite type of music is R&B, rap, and indie bands,” said Rubalcava (10) “They are all R&B and rap, but I really like the production of it. I don’t really care what they say.”
At the end of the day, music can be a very motivating, enjoyable and relaxing experience for the students at Wylie High.
