As the school year is ending, nationals is just around the corner . The Wylie High School Pacesetters have been working hard to make sure their dance routine is as clean as it can be. The team will head off to Denton, where they will be dancing at UNT and compete against other schools. This is the third year they have gone to nationals, so as the team keeps up with their scores, it will also be the last time the Pacesetters captains get to dance with their team before they head off to college.
The girls had to be at the school and ready early because they have a long day ahead of them. After a fun time performing all day there were some hardships the girls faced when competing.
“It was very tiring to do and took a lot of practice,” Annabelle Aldrich said (9).
But even with the hardship they faced they were still able to have fun at nationals.
“I didn’t hate anything about it was just tiring but I love the choreography and how it looked when we performed it,” Jayla Richardson said (9).
The competition was just something everyone was looking forward to. They have been putting in the work for months, so they were excited about being able to see the group dance, the duets, and what places everyone would get.
“For our first contest we didn’t place but for nationals we got first so we were the national super team duet winners, ” Jayla said.
Winning the dances and watching you and your team place first as a group is one of the best things about competing, especially at a big competition like Nationals. The Wylie High Pacesetters, especially their captains, have worked hard for months and there’s no better feeling than spending all day with your team and watching all the hard work pay off.
