Students at Wylie High have great electives and endorsements like taking medical classes. For instance, students are able to learn for the future and one these classes teach through hands-on learning and demonstrations.
Angeline Ologa (11) says,”I really like how we are able to learn the information then put it into practice.It really makes it a lot easier.”
In some cases it also can open opportunities to students and be able to take the next step if they want to continue from anywhere in the medical field.
“I have thought about doing an MA which is a medical assistant my senior year and to do it with my friends. I have heard that it is a great way to get started and it good cause it is a class the school offers,” said Sofia villanueva(11)
Anatomy and physiology has been able to discuss and help students with questions and scheduling for MA or any medical assistant classes.
Vanya Alvarez (11) said,”I really want to be able to take advantage of this opportunity because I am wanting to do an MA next year, which is my senior year, because I would like to go to college for radiology and continue down that path.”
In health science theory, Mrs.Cooke, has helped prepare and practice students for their CPR certification.Her students have practiced and gotten ready to take their test so they are CPR certified.
“Honestly I thought I was not going to pass it because at first I was not doing well when we started but I am very surprised but I am happy I got it over with and was able to get certified for CPR,” said Ologa(11)
Even students that are taking classes like MA get to learn in class and practice out of class to be able to be ready for a test or a hands-on experience in their future career.
“Lets just say that having some practice on me is a little scary but as the girl was taking my blood pressure and checking for my heart rate for her medical class it was not bad I could tell she had practice.But I am happy I was able to help that person out and hopefully she is able to get a good grade because she did a good job with it,” said Veronica La Court.
