Homecoming is quickly coming upon us on September 5th through the 9th and Student Council is beginning to prepare. Student council committee has been meeting up during lunch to come up with ideas for each class’ floats.
Every class has to create their own float for the parade. Not only are there floats for the classes but also for sports and the homecoming court nominees.
“I have to provide the trailer and truck that’s driving it, ” said Angel Guajardo (12). “Me and the court went to my house to paint it white since we are seniors.”
Not only does student council have to prepare for the parade, but they need to decorate the school and Downtown Wylie.
“Student Council helped Cheer decorate the town and school, and on Saturday we’re going to set up for the dance, and take it down afterwards,” said Kaleigh Wright (12).
In total, student council spends many hours decorating, cleaning up, and coming up with ideas for the school to be able to enjoy their homecoming week.
“ I think in total it’s going to be about 25 hours, including how long it’s going to take us to decorate for the dance,” said Wright.
Although there are a lot of things student council members have to do to prepare for the parade, they are also getting ready for all the dress up theme days and the dance.
“I’ve been working on the Stuco float, I’ve been getting all my clothes ready for the dance, and I have been looking for a masquerade mask online,” said Brayden Knight (11). “I’ve also been planning the theme days with my friends and buying stuff for that.”
There is a lot of preparing and planning that happens for homecoming week to come out successfully. Everyone involved in the preparations for homecoming work together to make the week fun for everyone.
